Qualifications of Licensed Athletic Trainers

Licensed athletic trainers are highly educated and proficient in athletic healthcare. They work collaboratively with physicians and allied health personnel, functioning as essential members of the athletic healthcare team. Athletic trainers can be found in secondary schools, colleges and universities, sports medicine clinics, professional sports programs, and various other athletic healthcare settings. They also find employment opportunities in performance art companies, military and industrial settings.

Education and Experience

Athletic training is recognized as an allied healthcare profession by the American Medical Association. At ORS, our licensed athletic trainers hold at least a Bachelor's Degree, typically in athletic training, health, physical education, or exercise science. They are board-certified (designated ATC) and licensed by the State of Michigan (designation AT).
